The present application shows that the topo/anti-topo immune complexes (IC) found in patients susceptible to systemic sclerosis (SSc) or afflicted with SSc mediate their action through binding heparan sulfate present on the surface of fibroblasts. Therefore, the present application provides a method for the prevention and/or treatment of SSc in a subject in need thereof and positive for anti-topo antibodies, wherein a preventive and/or therapeutic amount of a glycosaminoglycan compound is administered to prevent the docking of the topo/anti- topo IC on the surface of fibroblasts or to displace the topo/anti-topo IC from the surface of fibroblasts. Also provided are related methods for the determination of the usefulness of an agent for the prevention/treatment of SSc.La présente invention montre que les complexes immuns (IC) topo/anti-topo trouvés chez des patients susceptibles dêtre atteints par une sclérodermie généralisée (SSc) ou étant atteints dune SSc transmettent leur action par lintermédiaire dune liaison à lhéparane sulfate présent sur la surface des fibroblastes. Par conséquent, la présente invention concerne une méthode de prévention et/ou de traitement dune SSc chez un sujet en ayant besoin et positif pour des anticorps anti-topo, suivant laquelle une quantité préventive et/ou thérapeutique dun composé glycosaminoglycane est administrée pour prévenir la fixation de lIC topo/anti-topo sur la surface des fibroblastes ou pour déplacer lIC topo/anti-topo à partir de la surface des fibroblastes. Linvention concerne également des procédés associés pour la détermination de lutilité dun agent pour la prévention/le traitement dune SSc.
