A fabric anchoring system, comprising: a first generally flexible continuous anchoring member (14, 110) capable of being inserted through tissue (40) and movable between an elongated configuration and a shortened configuration suitable for anchoring against at least one side of the fabric, said anchoring member having a proximal end portion (74a), a distal end portion (74b) and a compressible intermediate portion (79) between said proximal end portion and the distal end portion, a second generally flexible continuous anchoring member capable of being inserted through the fabric and mobile between an elongated configuration and a shortened configuration suitable for anchoring against at least one side of the fabric, said second anchoring member having a proximal end portion, a portion of distal end, and a compressible intermediate portion between said proximal end portion and said distal end portion, and at least one mi tension rod (103) operatively connected to said first and second anchor members, the tension member extending through the proximal end portion of the first anchor member and moving in a first direction, to the distal end portion, and then a second opposite direction extends back to the proximal end portion of the first anchor member and then extends through the proximal end portion of the second anchor member and moves in the first direction to the distal end portion of the second anchoring member and then extending in the second opposite direction back to the proximal end portion of the second anchoring member, at least the first and second portions of the tensioning member and at least a portion of the intermediate portion of the at least one of the first and second anchor members extending through the tissue in a deployed configuration, being able to pull said tension member to cause the at least one of said first and second anchor members to move relative to said tension member from said elongate configuration to said shortened configuration where
