PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wrist-worn device capable of accurately measuring heart rate for sports-related activities and other types of activities.SOLUTION: An illumination source 114 illuminates the skin of a user and a detector 112 detects electromagnetic radiation reflected off the skin of the user. A compensation module 104 is configured to determine the position of the skin of the user relative to the detector.
