PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To output information useful for ophthalmologic diagnoses by forming an accurate three-dimensional model of ocular fundus blood vessels from a three-dimensional image of the ocular fundus.
SOLUTION: An image processing method includes extracting a blood vessel image corresponding to a site of the ocular fundus blood vessels from left/right parallax image, measuring the diameter of a blood vessel at and near the blood vessel center in either of the right and left blood vessel images, setting a region of interest having a size determined according to the blood vessel diameter near the blood vessel center on the periphery of the blood vessel center, searching congruent point having a high relevance with the blood vessel center in the left or right blood vessel image from the right or other left blood vessel image in a search region including the region of interest and being wider than the region of interest, calculating three-dimensional coordinate values of the blood vessel center from the blood vessel center and its congruent points, and rendering a three-dimensional model of the ocular fundus blood vessel based on the respective information on the three-dimensional coordinate values of the blood vessel center and the blood vessel diameter near the blood vessel center.
