ABSTRACT The present invention relates to a non-toxic mucosal ayurvedic coolant that is topically applied which effectively protects the soft membranes from the extreme hot and cold waves. Further the coolant composition does not quickly evaporate and does not substantially interfere with sensory identification of odors. In accordance with the invention, there is provided a non-toxic mucosal coolant composition of homogeneously mixed components for topical application in the nose, comprising an aloe vera derivative component not exceeding 95% by weight of the total composition, a sesame oil component not exceeding 5% by weight of the total composition and a controlled release agent to provide the composition to a nasal tissue within the nasal cavity.
