A method and apparatus are disclosed for dressing a wound. The apparatuscomprises an absorbent layer forab-sorbing wound exudate, a liquid impermeable, gas permeable filter layerover the absorbent layer, a cover layer comprising at leastone orifice and a first liquid and gas permeable transmission layer underlyingthe absorbent layer. The transmission layer is in fluidcommunication with the filter layer.
