A closure 10 for an ampoule 1 comprising a cap portion 12 arranged to engage with a broken neck portion 4 of an ampoule； and a cylindrical skirt portion 11 extending from the cap portion 12. The skirt portion 11 is elastically deformable and arranged to move from a first position in which it is at least partially folded and a second position in which it is unfolded and extends from the cap portion 12. The cap and skirt portion 12, 11 may be integrally formed. The skirt portion 11 may comprise one or more ribs. The skirt may be coated with a gripping material or an adhesive. A closure 10 for an ampoule 1 is also included comprising a cap portion 12 and a skirt portion 11. The surface of the cap is arranged to engage a broken neck 4 of the ampoule and comprises a convex shape to project inside the open neck of the ampoule 1. The cap portion 12 is formed from a deformable material to seal against the broken neck 4.
