<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for cultivating watermelon, increasing the number of cultivations per Tan (about 1,000 m<SP>2</SP>), and harvesting fruits having an almost equal size and sugar content. ??<P>SOLUTION: This method for cultivating watermelon includes performing fix planting of a watermelon seedling 16 on cultivation soil 4, upward raising a vine 18 extending from the watermelon seedling 16 and supporting its end on a second linear member 14 when the vine 18 extends to a length corresponding to a second height, and then upward raising the vine 18 and supporting its end on a first linear member 12 when the vine 18 further extends to a length corresponding to a first height. Thereafter, the vine 18 extends downward toward the surface of the cultivation soil 4 from the first linear member 12, and fruits borne on a node order below the nineteenth node order of the vine 18 and above the 26th node order are thinned out so as to bear fruits 26 on the twentieth to twenty-fifth node order of the vine 18 and support the borne fruits 26 on the surface of the cultivation soil 4. ??<P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT ??
