PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To watch various kinds of situations of a person resting on a bed, to immediately recognize a critical situation so that the person falls from the bed, and to notify a nurse, a family or the like.SOLUTION: This watching system on the bed and in a room includes: a detection means 10 capable of detecting the state of a target person P1 (P2, P3) to be watched in the room as information about a planar position and a height direction and a means partitioning the inside of the room into respective areas of the bed 2, a bed side 3, and a floor 4 when comparing the height direction information obtained by the detection means 10, and comparing each area with a comparison reference height set correspondingly to each area. By a comparison result, the situation of the target person P1 or the like is decided in each area.
