The present invention relates to a sleeve including a body having an upper opening. The body covers a portable oximeter probe or a portion of the probe. The sleeve has a shape that roughly matches the oximeter probe or portion of the probe that is covered by the sleeve. The sleeve has an upper opening that allows a user to slide the oximeter probe into the sleeve. The sleeve is transparent to the radiation emitted and collected by the oximeter probe. The sleeve is made of a material that prevents the patient's tissue, fluid, viruses, bacteria and fungi from coming into contact with the covered portions of the oximeter probe.
