The present invention provides a lighting device (1) for a medical treatment room, comprising: a support frame (2) configured to be mounted to a wall or to a ceiling of the medical treatment room a first illumination unit (8) provided on the support frame (2) and configured to provide direct illumination of an operating area (O) in the treatment room and a second illumination unit (10) provided on the support frame (2) and configured to provide indirect illumination of the operating area (O). The support frame (2) is articulated for movement of the first and second illumination units (8, 10) relative to the operating area (O). The lighting device is characterised in that movement of the support frame (2) is adapted to activate and deactivate the first and second illumination units (8, 10).
