The present invention relates to a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating cancer, wherein a VGLL1 expression or activation controller is contained as an active ingredient. When the expression of VGLL1 is controlled in a cancer cell strain over-expressing the VGLL1, the proliferation and metastasis of cancer cells are controlled. When the VGLL1 is over-expressed, the adhesion and proliferation of cancer cells increase, and metastasis and cellular infiltration increase thereby. A VGLL1 gene or protein activates a promoter of intergrin &alpha；5 to increase the metastasis of cancer. accordingly, the VGLL1 expression or activation controller may be usefully used as an active ingredient of a pharmaceutical composition for preventing and treating cancer.본 발명은 VGLL1 발현 또는 활성 억제제를 유효성분으로 함유하는 암 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물에 관한 것으로, 상기 VGLL1을 과발현하는 암세포주에서 VGLL1 발현을 억제하면 암 세포의 증식 및 전이가 억제되었고, VGLL1을 과발현하면 암세포의 부착능(adhesion)과 증식이 증가하여 전이 및 세포 침윤이 증가되었으며, VGLL1 유전자 또는 단백질은 intergrin α5의 프로모터를 활성화시켜 암의 전이를 증가시킴으로써, 본 발명의 VGLL1 발현 또는 활성 억제제를 암 예방 및 치료용 약학적 조성물의 유효성분으로 유용하게 사용될 수 있다.
