The present invention relates to a WxvB protein existing in X. campestris pv. vesocatoria (Xcv) which causes bacterial spot in a plant, and more specifically, to a new function of the WxvB protein which is involved in the disease producing of the infection strain. According to the present invention, by using a composition for expressing or suppressing the WxvB protein which affects the disease production of the Xcv strain, a method for preventing the bacterial spot can be provided, thereby curing the bacterial spot of plants. Moreover, a method for screening a material for deterring the expression of the WxvB protein can be provided, in order to efficiently develop an agent for preventing the bacterial spot which is one of the most serious bacterial diseases.본 발명은 식물체에서 세균성점무늬병을 일으키는 병원균주인 X. campestris pv. vesicatoria (Xcv)에 존재하는 WxvB 단백질에 관한 것으로, 보다 상세하게는 상기 균주의 병원성(독성)에 관여하는 WxvB 단백질의 새로운 기능에 관한 것이다. 본 발명은 식물체에서 세균성점무늬병을 방제할 수 있도록 Xcv 균주의 병원성에 영향을 미치는 WxvB 단백질의 발현 또는 활성을 억제하는 조성물을 이용하여 세균성점무늬병을 방제하는 방법을 제공함으로써, 식물체의 세균성점무늬병을 치료할 수 있는 효과가 있다. 또한, WxvB 단백질의 발현을 저해하는 물질을 스크리닝하는 방법을 제공함으로써, 가장 심각한 세균병 중 하나인 세균성점무늬병 방제제를 개발하는 데 유용하게 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
