Bodily tissue andstructures may be protected using afluid layer containing a mixture ofchitosan and oxidized polysaccha-ride. The mixture forms a protectivegel layer via in situ crosslinking.Compared to crosslinking using alow molecular weight aldehyde suchas glutaraldehyde or genipin, oxi-dized polysaccharides appear topro-vide faster gelation while avoidingthe use of potentially less bioaccept-able low molecular weight aldehydes.
