An antiperspirant (deoodrant) composition comprising tetrahydroxypropyl ethylene diamine (THPE, tetrahydroxypropyl ethylendiamine) and/or salt forms, preferably 0.1 to 30 wt%, in an aqueous (water) or alcohol-aqueous carrier (1,2-propanediol), with a pH between 2.5 and 7. The pH is controlled by the addition of 20% HCl (hydrochloric acid), preferably from pH 3.5 to 4.9. The antiperspirant preferably contains no aluminium; however, it may include inorganic or organic salts of aluminium (aluminum), zirconium, zinc or a mixture. Oil-in-water (O/W) and water-in-oil (W/O) emulsifiers are also present (steareth, ceteareth), as well as cosmetic oils (cyclopentasiloxane, polypropylene glycol ether, PEG), thickening agents (fumed silica), perfumes or fragrances, a deodorant active substance (antimicrobial, antibacterial, germ-inhibitor, odour adsorbent, enzyme inhibitor, silicates, silver salts, triethyl citrate), chelating agents (EDTA), thickening agents (hydroxyethyl cellulose, carbomers), cooling agents (menthol), antioxidants (hydroxy(hydro)cinnamic acid) and propellants (n-butane). The composition can be formulated as a roll-on or a spray and is used as a topical treatment on skin.
