A prosthetic joint includes: (a) a bone-implantable first member comprising a rigid material and including a body having an annular flange extending outward at a first end thereof, the first end of the body and the flange cooperatively defining a wear-resistant concave first contact surface having a protruding rim and a recessed central portion； and (b) a bone-implantable second member comprising a rigid material with a wear-resistant convex second contact surface； (c) where the first and second contact surfaces bear directly against each other so as to transfer axial and lateral loads from one of the members to the other, while allowing pivoting motion between the two members； (d) wherein the flange is shaped so as to deform elastically and permit the first contact surface to conform to the second contact surface when the joint is placed under a predetermined load.(a) 제 1 단부에 캔틸레버식 플랜지를 지니는 몸체를 포함하고, 몸체의 제 1 단부와 플랜지가 함께 돌출된 림 및 함입된 중심부를 지니는 내마모성의 오목한 제 1 접촉 표면을 형성시키는, 경성 재료를 포함하는 제 1 부재； 및 (b) 내마모성의 볼록한 제 2 접촉 표면을 지니는, 경성 재료를 포함하는 제 2 부재를 포함하는 보철 관절로서, (c) 상기 제 1 및 제 2 접촉 표면이 두 부재들 사이에 피봇팅 운동을 허용하면서, 축방향 및 측방향 하중을 하나의 부재에서 다른 부재로 전달하도록 서로에 대해 직접적으로 지탱하고； (d) 상기 플랜지가, 관절이 소정 하중 하에 놓일 때, 탄성적으로 변형되고 제 1 접촉 표면이 제 2 접촉 표면에 맞춰지도록 성형되는 보철 관절이 본원에 개시된다.
