The present invention relates to the use of one or more compounds selectedfrom the following classesof biologically active agents: an a-adrenergic antagonist, an anthelminticagent, an antifungal agent, anantimalarial agent, an antineoplastic agent, an antipsychotic agent, anantioxidant, a vasodilator and/ora vitamin, or a pharmaceutically acceptable derivative thereof, for use in thetreatment of a microbialinfection and in particular for killing multiplying, non-multiplying and/orclinically latent microorganismsassociated with such an infection.
