A system for filling medication dose packs withoral-solid medication items in an automated way to reducemanpower comprises storage trays each storing a specifictype of oral-solid medication item. A tablesupportsdose packs having a plurality of receptacles arranged inrows, with each receptacle associated with an intake timeand date of a patient prescription file. A dispensingmechanism has fingers for grasping by suction an oral-solidmedication item, and degrees of freedom to displacethe fingers to transfer the oral-solid medication itemsfrom the storage trays to the receptacles of the dosepack. A dispensercontroller determines the specifictypes of oral-solid medication items required in thereceptacles of the dose pack as a function of a patientprescription file, and actuates the dispensing mechanismto control displacements and the suction thereof to fillthe dose packs from the patient prescription file.
