The present invention relates to a bed cover handling apparatus which comprises a foldable or telescopic boom that is connected to an essentially vertical frame in a rotatable and in certain embodiments also slidable manner. A person lying on a bed can suspend a first end of a blanket, duvet or other type of bed cover to a hook at the free end of the boom. Subsequently the free end of the boom can be lifted automatically and the boom can be slid and/or retracted in the direction of the footboard of the bed in order to lift the bed cover and pull it backwards.
