A composite implant includes an anisotropic surgical mesh having morestretchability along a first axis and lessstretchability along a second axis that traverses the first axis, and analignment marker overlying a first major surface of theanisotropic mesh and extending along the first axis. The implant includes afirst absorbable, anti-adhesion film overlying thealignment marker and the first major surface of the anisotropic mesh, and asecond absorbable, anti- adhesion film overlying thesecond major surface of the biocompatible mesh. The alignment marker isdisposed between the first and second absorbable filmsand the first and second absorbable films are laminated to the anisotropicmesh.
