PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately monitor user mobility retained on a patient retention apparatus.SOLUTION: The patient retention apparatus includes a control system that measures change in the pressure of one or more zones of a patient retention surface and utilizes the changes in pressure to determine the mobility of a user retained on the patient retention surface. The mobility of the user may be measured using one of several methods. The mobility measurement results in the determination of a mobility score.
