According to an embodiment of the present invention, an endoscope includes: a light source an optical fiber having a light entrance portion through which light including information about the image of a place, in which light emitted by the light source is irradiated, is incident, and having a light exit portion through which light passing through the inside of the optical fiber is emitted and an image obtaining unit obtaining the image information. The image obtaining unit includes: an image sensor obtaining information about light passing through the optical fiber a transmission matrix storage unit storing a transmission matrix indicating the transmission states of various types of light incident through the light entrance portion and an image restoring unit restoring the image information from the light information obtained by the image sensor by a compression sensing technique using sparse representation, using the transmission matrix.
