A human antibody capable of binding specifically to CD98 which is CD98 originating inthe cell membrane of cancer cells and forms a complex with a protein having an aminoacid transport activity (for example, LAT1) and a functional fragment of thesame. This antibody binds to CD98 forming a dimer with LAT1 on the surface of cancercells, thus specifically attacks the cancer cells expressing CD98 by using animmunological system of ADCC or CDC and further inhibits the LAT1-mediated aminoacid intake by the cancer cells, thus inhibiting the proliferation thereof. Accordingly,it is intended to provide an agent for preventing and treating caner which containsthis antibody or a fragment of the antibody, acts on various cancers, is specificto cancer and shows no side effect.
