PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an endoscope capable of rotating a captured image at any angle while maintaining the imaging direction with an insertion section being bent.SOLUTION: The endoscope comprises: an insertion section 5 configured to be bendable, extend from a base end 5a to a free end 5b, and be rotatable about the extension direction thereof a functional member (imaging unit 6a) disposed in the side of the idle end 5b a plurality of control wires 20, the trailing ends of which are fixed to the side of the idle end 5b and a traction member 8 disposed in the side of the base end 5a and configured to pull the starting ends of the plurality of control wires 20 so as to bend the insertion section 5. When the insertion section 5 is rotated, the functional member (imaging unit 6a), the plurality of control wires 20, and the traction member 8 are rotated along with the insertion section 5.
