An exit device including a body having a top portion and a bottom portionwherein the top portionis configured to extend above a surface of water in a water basin and thebottom portion isconfigured to extend below the surface of the water, the top portion andbottom portion forming aback surface configured to abut against a wall of the water basin and a slopedsurface configuredto extend into the water providing a ramp from below the water toapproximately a top of the wallof the water basin. The exit device allows animals to exit the water basineven when the wall istoo high for the animal to climb out. In some cases, the exit device willallow water to passtherethrough such as a situation where the exit device is provided to aswimming pool in front ofa skimmer.
