A monomer compound comprising: at least one polymerizable functional group per molecule, and at least one bicycloheptyl-polyether radical per molecule, according to structure (I): -R13-R12-R11 (I)wherein: R11 is a bicyclo [3.1.1] heptyl group that is bonded to R12, if present, or to R13, if R12 is not present, via its carbon atom at the 2-position, optionally substituted on its carbon atom at the 6-position by one or two (C1-C6) alkyl radicals R12 is absent or is a bivalent linking group and R13 is a bivalent polyether group, useful in making polymers, particularly pH responsive polymers.
