An animal identification tag or label (1) shaped as a band or strap that encircles the animals limb or leg, one end of the band (2b) has a series of raised horizontal axis latching holes (8,8) that pass through aligned matching holes at the opposite end of the band (2a) to complete the ring and the two ends are securely fastened by pins (6) passing through the raised horizontal axis latching holes. The band is made from deformable plastic polymer, and can be adjusted in length by aligning the latching holes through different holes in the band. The band has space for markings or carrying an electronic transponder, and a weaker area to allow easier cutting of the band.
