PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for judging ease of rooting upon proliferation of plants such as Eucalyptus plants by cuttage. SOLUTION: There are disclosed: nucleic acids such as nucleic acids having a specific base sequence; proteins such as proteins having a specific amino acid sequence; nucleic acid probes complementary to all or part of the nucleic acids, sets of a sense primer and antisense primer to the nucleic acids, and antibodies to the proteins; antisense nucleic acids and siRNAs controlling the expression of the nucleic acids; and a method for judging the rooting ability of plants comprising measuring the expression level of mRNA corresponding to the nucleic acids or the expression level of the proteins in a tissue fragment of the plants.
