A light emitting apparatus for dermatological treatment designed to emit intense pulsed light, comprising a housing structure 6 for housing a light source 12 arranged to emit light externally, and a fan 26 configured to direct air heated by operation of the light source 12 into a duct 28 of the apparatus. Heated air is directed in a pathway 31 from an outlet port 32 at a distal end 28a of the duct 28 through an aperture (4, fig 4) in the housing 6. In order to minimize heat exchange between the heated air and the housing 6, no part of the housing 6 extends into the pathway 31 exiting from the duct 28. The aperture (4, fig 4) comprises a housing duct having an inlet 11 and an outlet 32. The aperture (4, fig 4) tapers outwardly in the direction of the airflow intermediate the inlet 11 and the outlet 32. The distal end of the duct 28a can be recessed relative to the housing structure 6.
