The present invention provides a biomarker for detecting and diagnosing polypoidal choroidal vasculopathy (PCV) of human eyes, including effect levels of hyperhomocysteinemia that are identified, wherein effect levels of hyperhomocysteinemia are highly correlated with PCV of the human eyes. In addition, this invention further provides a method for detecting and diagnosing PCV of the human eyes.
