Orthopedic rail system comprises a first component with a receiving element and a second component with a connection end for connecting to the receiving element. Receiving element has two opposing stop walls. Connection end has two opposing lateral walls. Receiving element and the connection end can be connected to each other by at least one connection element such that the lateral walls rest against the stop walls in the connected state. Stop walls and the lateral walls taper towards each other in a conical manner. Receiving member and the connection end are positioned continuously to each other. Functional component for an orthopedic rail system comprises a receiving space for accommodating the component end of said orthopedic rail system, which comprises at least one sliding surface and at least one thereto displaceable sliding wedge. Adapter element for connecting two components of the above rail system by means of which one end of the component is connected to the end of the second component, has two receiving spaces for accommodating one end of both components.
