A lens cover for covering an applanation lens on a docking cone assembly to allow a conventional LASIK opthalmic laser surgical system perform a clear corneal incision for cataract surgery. The lens cover includes a slot that is shaped to correspond to the desired width of the clear corneal incision. Incident light from the opthalmic laser surgical system is partially allowed to pass through the slot, through the applanation lens, and into the patients cornea.
