PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a water-retaining planter which conserves water in a garden, substantially reduces time and effort of watering work, protects plants from strong wind, substantially reduces fatigue, time and effort of producing crops, and substantially saves management cost on garden trees and street trees, and which also allows ponds and lakes to be used as cultivation places and contributes to environmental protection.SOLUTION: A water-retaining planter having a bottom longer than conventional products do, comprises a draining board 2 (for root rot prevention) covered by nonwoven fabric at a position of about 1/2 of the planter. Under the draining board, a hole is provided, and a draining pipe 5 is drawn from the bottom and passed through the hole. Then, an excess water discharge outlet 6 is provided under the draining board. Soil is loaded on the upper part of the draining board to plant a plant.
