Compositions and methods for plant application are provided for a new strain of Bacillus licheniformis RTI184 having plant growth promoting activity. Compositions and extracts of Bacillus licheniformis strains containing newly identified fengycin-like and dehydroxyphengycin-like cyclic lipopeptides designed as "Fengycin MB-Cit" and "Dehydroxyphengycin MB-Cit" respectively Provided. In certain aspects, a composition comprising Bacillus licheniformis strain RTI184 can be applied alone or in combination with chemicals or other microbial agents to benefit plant growth.
