An integrated circuit (IC) module having a leadframe microneedle for a medical device, and a method of forming an IC module. The methods include forming a leadframe blank comprising a micro-needle integrally formed therein. The fine-needle may be bent beyond the initial lower side of the lead frame blank. The initial lower surface may be combined with the protective layer such that the bendable micro-needles are embedded in the protective layer, and the protective layer may be removably attached to the initial lower surface and the bent micro-needles. The IC component may be fixed to the upper side of the lead frame blank. At least the upper surface of the core of the IC component and the lead frame blank may be encapsulated with a molding compound that forms the packaging of the IC module.
