A method of creating x-rays with the elimination of distortions for dental or orthodontic diagnostics, which includes the following steps: a) the location (S1) of the source (28) of x-ray radiation in the oral cavity (34) of the patient (36), b) the location (S2) the X-ray detector (32) in such a way that it extends externally around at least a part of the patient’s jaw arch (36), c) X-ray exposure of the patient’s teeth (36), d) fixing (S4) of the patient’s (32) x-ray radiation x-ray radiation, e) creating (S5) a digital X-ray image based on the x-ray detector recorded, characterized in the following steps: f) measuring (S6) the coordinates of several measurement points located on the teeth (38) using a measuring device (50, 64, 73, 50a-50d, 106a, 106b, 66a, 66b, 110a, 110b, 130), g) eliminating (S7) distortions of the digital X-ray image using the coordinates measured in step e). 2. The method according to claim 1, characterized in that in step e) the coordinates of the measurement points are determined relative to the base point, the position of which is known relative to the x-ray detector (32) and the x-ray source (28).
