A method is presented for treating herpes simplex virus (HSV) infection comprising: (a) locally administering a substance that induces a delayed type hypersensitivity (DTH) response to a patient at a site of an HSV lesion to induce a DTH response at the site of the lesion during one or more outbreaks of the HSV infection.L'invention concerne un procédé de traitement d'une infection par le virus herpès simplex (VHS) comprenant : (a) l'administration locale d'une substance induisant une réponse d'hypersensibilité de type retardé (HTR) à un patient au niveau d'un site d'une lésion due au VHS pour induire une réponse de HTR au niveau du site de la lésion pendant une ou plusieurs flambées d'infection par le VHS.
