<；P>；PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for inhibiting surgical site infection (SSI) caused by surgical operations, especially those of digestive organs and a column used for the same. <；P>；SOLUTION: The method for inhibiting SSI includes (a) a process for administering a chemical therapeutic agent for treating and/or preventing the surgical site infection and (b) a process for removing leukocytes containing neutrophils from blood after drawing the blood from an operated patient during the surgical operation or within 24 hours after the operation and returning the leukocyte-removed blood to the operated patient. The column for circulating the blood is used for inhibiting SSI during the surgical operation or within 24 hours after the operation of digestive organs and filled with vehicles having affinity to the leukocytes including neutrophilic leukocytes. <；P>；COPYRIGHT: (C)2006,JPO&NCIPI
