Provided by the present invention are compositions or formulations suitablefor application to a patients eyes which utilizes a topical ophthalmically-acceptable formulation comprising a therapeutically-effective amount of anophthalmically-active antimicrobial agent, and an ophthalmically-active anti-inflammatory or steroidal agent in combination with physiologic levels ofserum electrolytes in an ophthalmic formulation for the treatment of changesin the normal eye condition. The invention also includes methods of treatingpatients having an ophthalmic disease, injury or disorder, utilizing thecompositions or formulations. Also provided are kits comprising thecompositions or formulations and a means of applying the compositions orformulation to the patients eyes.
