The invention generally relates to barrier film applications that cover the diaphragm (head) of a stethoscope and/or barrier film dispensers for dispensing the barrier film applications. The barrier film applications and/or barrier film dispenser can be used to prevent the spread of infection which may otherwise result from the same stethoscope being used from patient to patient in a hospital and/or clinical environment. Further, the barrier film dispenser and/or a barrier film cartridge housed in the barrier film dispenser can contain multiple barrier film applications sufficiently or substantially preventing them from contamination and/or making application fast and easy.
