Methods for preventing, ameliorating, or reducing dermatological signs of inflammation are provided which employ active agents, other than a retinoid, that stimulate thymosin beta-4 expression in the skin and inhibit production of pro-imflammatory chemokines and /or cytokines. Also provided are methods for screening for substances which stimulate thymosin beta-4 expression levels and the methods of using active agents identified by the screening protocol in the treatment of skin.L'invention concerne des méthodes pour prévenir, soulager, ou réduire les signes dermatologiques d'inflammation, qui font appel à des principes actifs, autres qu'un rétinoïde, qui stimulent l'expression de la thymosine bêta-4 dans la peau et inhibent la production de chimiokines et/ou de cytokines pro-inflammatoires. L'invention concerne également des procédés de criblage de substances qui stimulent les niveaux d'expression de la thymosine bêta-4 et les procédés d'utilisation des principes actifs identifiés par le protocole de criblage pour le traitement de la peau.
