An antibacterial article with long-lasting antibacterial effect is provided. The antibacterial article includes a substrate, a base layer formed on the substrate, a plurality of NiCrN layers and a plurality of Cu-Ag-Ce alloy layers formed on the base layer. Each one of the NiCrN layers and each one of the Cu-Ag-Ce alloy layers are deposited on each other. The NiCrN layer can lead the Cu ions, Ag ions and Ce ions release slowly. So the antibacterial article has long-lasting antibacterial effect. A method for making the antibacterial article is also provided.
