The interdental cleaning mechanism includes a housing 12 and a spray tool 16 extending therefrom to guide a spray of fluid drops to the interdental region. Within the housing is a spray generating assembly 14 that includes a chamber, a movable piston 26 mounted therein, one-way inlets for gas 42 and 40, and an outlet 44. A system 54 for moving a piston, such as a motor, operatively compresses the spring 32 to create a partial vacuum in the chamber to allow gas to flow through the gas inlet into the chamber.
