Graphical user interface system and method of displaying and controlling asurgical device, such as a device used in phacoemulsification procedures. Agraphicaluser interface is displayed on a display screen and includes one or morerepresentations of operating parameters, such as aspiration rate, vacuum, andpowerthat are used to control the surgical device. A parameter is adjusted bymoving aportion of a representation from a first location on the display screen to asecondlocation on the display screen to change the operating parameter and controlthesurgical device.
