PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately detect a mamma region from a mammographic image acquired by mammography.

SOLUTION: CPU of this mammographic image processor binarizes pixel signal values of the mammographic image using a density threshold within a predetermined range to divide a mammographic image into a high-density region having a higher density than the density threshold and a low-density region having a lower density than the density threshold, and executes a deletion process for deleting the low-density region connected from the region divided into the low-density region to the image end in the opposite side of the chest wall side. The CPU detects the low-density region after the deletion, which is acquired by using the highest density threshold out of the density thresholds having the low-density region left after the deletion of the low-density region connected to the image end in the opposite side of the chest wall side, as the mamma region.
