Method and system for controlling patient recovery from anesthesia with an inhalation anesthesia agent, wherein the patient during the recovery is ventilated with a ventilator, the method comprising: - decreasing inhalation anesthesia agent concentration in the patient breathing gas to a level enabling patient spontaneous breathing, - monitoring the expiration of the patient to determine at least the expiratory O2 concentration, - determining a target level for the expiratory O2 level for the patient during recovery, - comparing the determined expiratory O2 concentration with the target level for the expiratory O2 level for the patient, and - controlling the O2 concentration in the ventilation gas to allow the expiratory O2 level for the patient to match the target level for the expiratory O2 concentration.Linvention concerne un procédé et un système de régulation de la récupération dun patient après une anesthésie avec un agent anesthésiant par inhalation, le patient pendant la récupération étant ventilé avec un insufflateur, le procédé comprenant : - la diminution de la concentration en agent anesthésiant par inhalation dans le gaz respiratoire du patient à un niveau permettant la respiration spontanée du patient, - la surveillance de lexpiration du patient pour déterminer au moins la concentration dO2 expiré, - la détermination dun niveau cible pour le niveau dO2 expiré pour le patient pendant la récupération, - la comparaison de la concentration dO2 expiré déterminée au niveau cible pour le niveau dO2 expiré pour le patient, et - la régulation de la concentration dO2 dans le gaz de ventilation pour permettre que le niveau dO2 expiré pour le patient corresponde au niveau cible pour la concentration dO2 expiré.
