A liquid container is provided having a volume marking, a conductive element disposed on the volume marking, and a common conductive element. For example, the liquid container has a wall that forms a volume. The electrically conductive element and the common electrically conductive element have a portion disposed within the volume and a portion outside the volume. The container further has an RFID tag to which the electrically conductive element and the common electrically conductive element are connected to it via each electrically conductive wire. A liquid detection system having a liquid container is also provided. The system comprises one or more containers and a patient site monitor with an RF reader that interrogates RFID tags at preset intervals.
