PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an animal monitoring device which detects movement of a monitoring target pet without giving stress to the pet, and when there is change in the movement, directly notifies a user of that effect.SOLUTION: A monitoring device detects movement (momentum) of a pet from an image captured by a camera (S300 and S310), if the detected movement (momentum) of the pet is equal to or less than a threshold for a preset time or longer, notifies an external communication terminal of that effect (S330 and S340), and also when the pet restarts moving, notifies the external communication terminal of that effect (S330 and S340).
