PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a subject information acquisition apparatus capable of presenting an image where effect of a correlative interference wave is stably reduced.SOLUTION: A subject information acquisition apparatus comprises: an element for sending and receiving an acoustic wave to and from a subject and for converting the received wave into a plurality of received signals； processing means for using the received signals to acquire electric power strength signals within the body of the subject； and correcting means for correcting the electric power strength signals. The processing means uses the received signals to calculate a correlation value between frequency components, applies frequency averaging processing to a correlation matrix which is a set of plural calculated correlation values, uses the value of the frequency averaging processing to acquire a first electric power strength signal, and uses the plural calculated correlation values to reduce the dispersion between elements in the diagonal of the correlation matrix for acquisition of a second electric power strength signal. The correcting means uses the first and the second electric power strength signals to output a corrected electric power strength signal.【課題】相関性干渉波の影響を安定して低減した画像を提示できる被検体情報取得装置を提供する。【解決手段】被検体に音響波を送受信して複数の受信信号に変換する素子と、受信信号を用いて被検体内の電力強度信号を取得する処理手段と、電力強度信号を補正する補正手段を有し、処理手段は、受信信号を用いて周波数成分同士の相関値を算出し、算出された複数の相関値の集合である相関行列を周波数平均処理し、周波数平均処理の値を用いて第一の電力強度信号を取得し、算出された複数の相関値を用いて相関行列の対角方向の要素同士の分散を低減して第二の電力強度信号を取得し、補正手段は、第一および第二の電力強度信号を用いて、補正処理された電力強度信号を出力する被検体情報取得装置を用いる。【選択図】図１
