Provided are a method and an apparatus for cultivating plants using roots of medicinal plants, such as Glycyrrhiza uralensis Fischer, etc. The method and apparatus for cultivating plants are able to increase product value of roots and improve productivity. The present invention uses the cultivation apparatus comprising a plurality of cultivating pots (1) accommodating soil, and a plurality of supply pipes (2) for supplying nutrient broth. The cultivating pot (1) includes: a main body (11) in which ridge-shaped parts (11A) vertically extending by being swollen inwardly, or vertically long oval shaped swelling parts are arranged around the circumference of the cultivating pot (1) in a row (11C)； and a cylindrical upper end portion (12) provided with two pairs of distribution holes (12A). The soil (16) is filled up to an end portion of the main body (11), so that the inside the upper end portion (12) of the main body is remained as an upper air gap portion (15). The supply pipes (2) having a sufficiently smaller diameter than each distribution hole (12A) are inserted and pass through each pair of the distribution holes (12A), so that the nutrient broth can be loaded inside each cultivation pot (1) from supply holes (21) of the supply pipes (2).
